Question presented
A racially hostile work environment violates Title VII when discriminatory conduct is “severe or pervasive” enough to alter the conditions of employment. Harris v. Forklift Sys., Inc., 510 U.S. 17, 21 (1993). An isolated incident may satisfy that standard if it is sufficiently severe. The question presented is: Whether employer-mandated training that communicates derogatory racial stereotypes and directs race-conscious workplace conduct may be sufficiently severe to create a racially hostile work environment absent repetition or additional race-based misconduct.
