Timothy A. Jackson v. Colorado

Petitioner is a man of deep Religious convictions. On 27 October, 2014, he filed a motion to Terminate Child Support Order, based exclusively upon his Biblical convictions. On 15 July, 2015, the Trial Court, denied Petitioner's motion. On 30 September, 2015 Petitioner appealed to the District Court, who ruled on 29 October, 2015 that Petitioner's Religious freedom argument was "simply without merit." Petitioner filed an appeal with the Colorado Court of Appeals on 9 November, 2015, who ruled on 10 November, 2016 affirming the District Court's Order. Petitioner filed a Writ of Certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court on 15 December, 2016, and was denied on 16 October, 2017. The question is whether Colorado's imposition and enforcement of child support against Petitioner's sincerely held Religious convictions violates the U.S. Constitution, specifically in regard to Free Speech and the Free Exercise Clause.
